Whole Meal Bread Basic Instructions

Package Instructions for Whole Meal Bread

Oven: Package Instructions for Whole Meal Bread
Each package makes 1 loaf.

1 package TORO™ Celiac-safe™ Whole Meal Bread Mix
1 full 7 g (1/4 oz) packet Active Dry yeast (approx. 2 tsp)
1 2/3 cups lukewarm milk or water (milk gives a better crust and more nutritious bread but water can be used if lactose intolerance is a problem).

Pre-heat oven to 400° F. Empty bread mix into mixing bowl. Add yeast packet to mix. Pour 1 2/3 cups lukewarm milk over flour mixture before starting mixer. Mix ingredients for 3-4 minutes on high speed. Grease a 9 x 5 inch pan. Put bread dough in pan. Dip spatula in a bowl of milk or water and brush top until smooth.

Cover and leave dough to rise in a warm, moist place for 25-30 minutes. We recommend on a cooling rack over your sink or large bowl filled with hot water.

Bake on the bottom shelf of oven for 30-35 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

I, too, used the bread machine recipe. Bread rose up high and then fell before baking. It had a wonderful taste even though the falling made the bread dense. My machine (Panasonic) warms the ingredients before dropping the yeast and I thought that the problem might be that the recipe calls for the lukewarm milk and that made it too warm. Maybe this is not the problem since other people had a bread machine problem. Surely hope you get this worked out. When you do...I will order more bread mixes.

The sponge cake recipe is wonderful. Made this and served it with Alabama sweet strawberries and Cool Whip. Yummy!

Thanks for the feedback, Janet! Sounds like you were satisfied with your pizza, but feel it could be better. I'm always working to make our recipes better and feedback like yours is a great help.

This past weekend, I make my grandson a pizza from the white bread mix. It was the first home made pizza he has had in over a year. Even though the crust did not rise as the recipe indictated it would, he was satisfied with the pizza. Of course the more toppings you put on it the better it tastes. I purchased the four mixes at the same time, saving $4.00 plus no shipping. I am not sure if I will buy it if I had to pay shipping. It is a start of better things to come.( I hope)

Janet

I just got off the phone with Jenny, the president of the company. She was very sorry about the results, is sending me a coupon for another mix, and recommended at this time, to try baking the bread in the oven. The company is going to experiment with the bread machine recipe. Jenny was very nice and helpful! I look forward to trying the mix in the oven!! Thank you smilies/smiley.gif

Dear Cusotmers:

We have now had 4 reports of poor performance of our bread in bread machines. While all bread machines perform differently, we are not comfortable with those results. We will go back to the kitchen and see what improvements we can make, but for now, we would like to officially suggest that best bread results come from baking our breads in your oven.

We are very sorry for any trouble this has caused.

Jenny

I, too, have been looking forward to trying this bread only to have it flop in the bread machine. I am very disappointed in the directions. Apparently the white bread setting with medium crust is not the appropriate setting for this bread. Generally gluten free bread does not need to be kneaded, but I thought with the wheat starch this bread would have been different. I will not order this bread again unless someone from the company responds with appropriate directions and possible reimbursement of an expensive bread mix.

I have just baked my first loaf of bread and the it tastes really good. But I am disappointed that it did not rise. I followed the directions on the package, measured carefully and put it in my bread machine. I baked it on white bread medium crust. I did use half goats milk and half water as I am allergic to the casein in regular milk. What did I do wrong? I have been looking forward to this bread ever since I saw your web site. This is probably not the place forthis question but I can't find anywhere else to contact you. I have one more package and I want to do it right. Thanks for any help you can give me. I tried to login but it would not accept my password. So I clicked lost past word and you all sent another one which will not work either.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Pat
